What does success mean to you?
Based on the dictionary definition, success is the accomplishment of an aim or purpose. Success is also the attainment of popularity or profit. It can even be a person or thing that achieves desired aims or attains prosperity.
What would your definition of success actually be?
Does it mean being able to by the latest Rolex covered with bling?
Having a roof over your head, a full stomach, and warm bed at the end of the day?
Or does it mean something else, something more?
The fact of the matter is, there really is no wrong or one answer to what is success.
However, I often think we associate being a success primarily in status and financial terms.
But being a success actually means doing anything well.
At least, once we break away from the dominant status ideals of our societies.
To me, success is the process.
Itโs in the journey.
Itโs the way you feel and the energy that is created on your way to whatever your goal may be.
Maybe itโs a result of where my path in life has led me?
On my own at age 14, not falling victim to the instability of my surroundings or the stigma of my upbringing.
Maybe thatโs why I view taking control of my journey and channeling it towards positive growth and self-improvement as part of my definition of success?
I think so many of us get caught up in trying to live up to preconceived notions of what we perceive success to be.
Or look like.
Regardless of whether or not theyโre our own expectations of what success means or theyโre ones placed upon us by others.
I worry that when we do that, when we fail to embrace the journey that weโre on because weโre too focused on the outcomeโor societyโs expectation of the outcomeโwe lose sight of what makes us, well us.
We lose the passion, promise, and purpose of what makes us each unique as individuals.
I didnโt go to college.
I didnโt come from a supportive family.
I didnโt have anyone looking out for me or mentoring me on which career path to take.
But I can honestly say that I feel like my life has turned into a success story.
In fact, I recently was able to chat with Brad Lea, one of the most successful entrepreneurs in the virtual training and marketing field, about exactly that.
And, as two successful people being recognized in our respected industries, you might be surprised that our views on success differ.

I think it might surprise you.
With all the many different facets of what success can be, Iโm curious: How do you define success? Let me know in the comments below.
