Happy Memorial Day!
Across the country, Americans are gearing up to celebrate this momentous occasion—a day to remember the men and women who died serving in all the U.S. Armed Forces.
While it might look a little different this year due to social distancing, many regularly choose to see the last Monday in May as a day off work or the start of Summer.
For me, I believe it also is important to mark this day as one to honor the sacrifices made by these brave individuals in service of our country.
They are our mothers and fathers, sisters and brothers, aunts and uncles, cousins and friends.
They have, and continue to, sacrifice themselves for our country.
All so that we may be free to live our lives the way we choose in the greatest country in the world.
Sure, things may be a little different this year…
You may not be at a large family gathering or hitting the beach…
But you still can support businesses through their plethora of sales…
Or enjoy a little light reading to boost your personal or professional goals (hint, hint)…
However, you choose to celebrate on May 25, I wanted to take a moment to wish you a healthy and wonderful Memorial Day.
For those of you in military families, who have served or are serving, thank you for your selflessness. I know that freedom isn’t free and the sacrifices of you and your loved ones don’t go unnoticed.
I’m in awe of the grace you show while selflessly giving back to strangers, like me.
Giving back
In the spirit of giving back, I want to share with you an event I’m excited to be proud of.
On June 5, Orangewood Foundation, a 501(c)(3) emergency shelter care facility for children who have been abused, abandoned, and neglected in the County of Orange, will host its 16th Annual Scholarship Luncheon.
This virtual experience, hosted by New York Times Bestselling Author and celebrity Chef Devon Alexander, includes a gourmet meal sent directly to your door with a special gift. Proceeds from the event help fund scholarships for the many children assisted by Orangewood map out their paths forward based on their goals and dreams.
At the heart of its mission, Orangewood wants to show kids that there are people out there that care about their well-being and futures. I’m excited to be one of those people, and I’d love for you to join me there (virtually) for this event.
To join us on June 5, you can RSVP here.
Have a happy and safe Memorial Day!
